Though discussed in the literature on contact languages (Whinnom, 1971), Cocoliche is usually regarded not as a pidgin but as an unstable blend of two closely related languages (Italian and Spanish). Because these languages are already very similar, there is no need for grammatical simplification, and Cocoliche has no stable grammar of its own.
